'AVS Barcode Source' can create barcodes to the ITF-14 specification, as well as many other types of barcodes.
In the ITF-14 specification, exactly 14 digits must be entered. The barcode cannot be any longer or shorter. The software enforces this and will not display an image until it is the correct length.
With ITF-14 barcodes, a check digit is necessary. If the user enters the check digit, the software will validate it. Alternatively, you can let the software calculate the check digit automatically. Either way, the software will not allow an ITF-14 barcode to be created with a missing or invalid check digit.
Another important feature of ITF-14 is the optional 'bearer bars', which are dark bars around the edges of the barcode. These bars can increase print quality by ensuring a standard pressure is applied by the printing plate. They are recommended by the ITF-14 specification, and fully supported by the 'AVS Barcode Source' software. Horizonal and vertical bearer bars can optionally be selected. It is recommended to use both horizontal and vertical bearer bars, forming a 'box' around the entire barcode.
Finally, with ITF-14 barcodes, the specification recommends the inclusion of "human-readable" text below the barcode - in other words, the barcode number printed as text. The software supports this, and it can be switched on or off as necessary.
Note that the 'AVS Barcode Source' product supports a number of 1-dimensional (linear) barcode formats, not just ITF-14. For a full list, see the main product details page.
